Insights into Introversion Monday, May 21, 2018 from 10am to noon
We can bring social and emotional support for adults, youth and professionals affected by cancer to you! Whether your need is in a cancer care center, the workplace, faith community, school or other community setting, we have the ability to facilitate programs on site at your location.
Gilda to Go! Program Offerings
Our offerings include but are not limited to the following. Our team of professionals work with you to create the support experience that is most useful and meaningful to you.
We create brief, surprise random acts of joy and humor in places that could use a little lift — typically waiting rooms and infusion rooms, but we’ll try any place once! From giant chickens getting every abled person to his or her feet and dancing to gorillas delivering banana grams expect the unexpected when it’s needed most.
Support Experiences for Adults and Youth
(Including workshops, guided discussions and ongoing support groups)
Educational Discussions for School Professionals
We provide inservice training and guidance for teachers, guidance counselors and other school personnel when cancer comes into the classroom.
Topics have included:
- Lesson plans for providing basic cancer education to students
- Preparing classmates for the return of a student who has a cancer diagnosis
- When cure is not expected — preparing for an anticipated loss
Cancer in the Classroom
We facilitate in-classroom education and guided discussion with students when cancer comes into the classroom. We encourage classroom teachers and counselors to co-facilitate these programs with us.
Cancer within a Faith Community
Many communities of faith have ministries for members living with cancer including support groups, home and hospital visitation and other support of daily needs (i.e providing meals). At times, those in this ministry may benefit from additional training, support and guidance to enhance their ministry. We can provide ongoing education and formation to help you continue effective support to your members living with cancer.
Cancer in the Workplace
Working with you, we can design onsite support when cancer enters the workplace, including guidance to managers who supervise employees who have a cancer diagnosis, guided discussions within work teams and education for employees. We work with you HR and/or EAP to create the support your business needs.
Support for Professional Caregivers
As professionals providing care to those who are affected by a cancer diagnosis, we experience our own grief. Many professional caregivers feel they would benefit from peer-centered support with others who share similar work experiences and similar grief from the loss that is an inevitable consequence of the work they do. For some, they prefer this support be offered in a place different from their primary workplace. We can work with you to create one-time or ongoing support for professional caregivers.
